Money rain as Iheanacho, Iwobi picks MOTM, MVP awards

The two England-based stars were outstanding as Nigeria powered to victory over their hapless visitors on Friday afternoon

Leicester City’s Kelechi Iheanacho and Everton FC’s Alex Iwobi have been adjudged to be the two best players on the pitch when the Super Eagles forced a 2-0 defeat down the throat of Liberia at the Teslim Balogun Stadium.

Gernot Rohr’s men dominated the encounter for the most part, with a few brilliant individual performances littered all over the pitch.

But Iheanacho took the shine off everyone else, scoring a pair of well-taken goals in the 22nd and 44th minutes to help Nigeria begin the race to Qatar 2022 on a fantastic note.

The ex-Manchester City ace was adjudged the game’s Man of the Match and was given a cheque of N1million by NFF partner 33 Export.

The equally excellent Iwobi had a hand in both of Iheanacho’s goals and was also presented with a cheque of N1million as the Most Valuable Player of the Match.

With the win over Liberia’s Lone Star, the Super Eagles sit top of Group C ahead of their matchday two clash against Cape Verde at the Estádio Municipal Adérito Sena in Mindelo on September 7.

Another win over the Blue Sharks will see the Super Eagles seize control of the group with six points.
