Milan great Alessandro Costacurta on how to stop Napoli’s Victor Osimhen

The legendary Italian defender is not in doubt that the potential of the youngster makes him a nightmare for Serie A defenders

AC Milan great and seven-time Serie A champion Alessandro Costacurta has confessed that Napoli has an almost unstoppable force of nature in Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen.

Costacurta made this assertion while analysing Napoli’s comprehensive 4-0 thrashing of Udinese at the Dacia Arena on Monday night in the studio of SkySports, as quoted by Tutto Napoli.

A fantastic defender at his prime, Costacurta watched Udinese’s centre-back trio of Rodrigo Becao, Bram Nuytinck, and Samir struggle to deal with the pace and power of Osimhen all night.

It would be recalled that the Super Eagles striker similarly terrorised Leicester City defenders on Thursday as he scored twice to earn Luciano Spalletti’s men a fine 2-2 draw at the King Power Stadium.

Osimhen netted his first Serie A goal of the season at Udinese, and it could open the floodgates for a striker who possesses the potential to do better than the ten goals he got for the Neapolitans last term.

However, five-time Champions League winner Costacurta has offered tips to defenders on how they can stop the former Lille man from embarrassing them.

“How is Osimhen rated? He has great potential in the open field,” Costacurta said.

“Trying to anticipate him is a danger because then you risk never catching him again. The only thing is to try to wait for him.”

Osimhen will look to get on the scoresheet again for Napoli when the Parthenopeans make the trip to the Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris to keep another away date with Sampdoria on Thursday.
