Iheanacho’s clever assist helps Leicester avoid defeat

The Nigerian forward scored a fine goal in the Carabao Cup in midweek and followed it up with a brilliant assist on Saturday

Kelechi Iheanacho supplied the assist to Jamie Vardy’s late equaliser as Leicester twice came from behind to claim a 2-2 draw with Burnley at the King Power Stadium.

Vardy scored both goals for the Foxes and was to blame for Burnley’s opener, but the Englishman will be grateful to Iheanacho for saving him from ridicule with the pass that helped him atone for his error.

Vardy scored the own goal that gave Burnley a 12th-minute lead, but the veteran forward equalised in the 37th minute only for Maxwel Cornet to score a beauty three minutes later to restore the visitors’ advantage.

Iheanacho arrived from the bench in the 62nd minute and played a crucial part in Vardy’s late equaliser.

The Super Eagles striker spotted the run of Vardy and played a fine through-ball for the run of Vardy, who expertly rounded Burnley goalkeeper, Pope, with ease before slotting a strike into an empty net.

Iheanacho is yet to open his goal account in the Premier League this term, but the 24-year-old now has an assist in six matches.

The former Man City ace has two goals to his name in other competitions, including the winner against his former employers Manchester City in the Community Shield in August.
