The two Nigerian stars celebrated fine victories with their clubs in the German top flight on Saturday afternoon
Former Nigerian youth international Taiwo Awoniyi featured for the opening 66 minutes as Union Berlin returned to winning ways with a 1-0 win over Arminia Bielefeld at the Alte Foersterei.
Union Berlin had not won any of their previous three matches in all competition, losing the last two.
But Kevin Behrens’ 88th-minute strike secured only the second league win of the season for the Iron Ones. The German forward had replaced Awoniyi shortly after the hour mark.
At the PreZero Arena, compatriot Kevin Akpoguma was introduced for Christoph Baumgartner with ten minutes left to play, and he did his bit as Hoffenheim sealed an excellent 3-1 victory over high-flying Wolfsburg.
Ridle Baku broke the deadlock for the visitors midway through the second.
But Andrej Kramaric’s equaliser just before halftime dragged Hoffenheim back on level terms before second-half strikes from Baumgartner and Pavel Kaderabek secured all three points for the home side.
Akpoguma was introduced and had shone some delightful dribbling skills moments before Kaderabek netted the game’s last goal.
