Super Eagles star receives praises from fans following man of the match display

The first Old Firm derby of the season took place on Sunday, and one of the two Nigerians that featured in the game has received glowing praises from supporters

Rangers fans took to Twitter to praise Leon Balogun after his amazing performance in the Old Firm Derby. Some of them made fun of Celtic’s attack, which Balogun played a key role in silencing, while a few suggested that he gets the captain armband.

Rangers were missing some members of their squad due to Covid-19 infections. Because of their situation, the Nigerian International had to start from the right-back position, a position he wasn’t used to playing from.

However, the Nigerian put up a wonderful shift in that position, restricting the Celtic attack from scoring and silencing their hitman Kyogo Furuhashi.

His performance was significant for Rangers fans not just because they got the three points, but it was also special because it was against their old rivals, Celtic.

His impressive form is great for Nigeria as it comes just in time for the World Cup qualifiers. Nigeria face Liberia and Cape Verde, and coach Gernot Rohr will hope Balogun puts in another excellent performance.
