Samuel Kalu: Fenerbahce, Bordeaux to meet over Super Eagles star

The Nigerian international has been in France with Les Girondins for three years, but it may be time to move to greener pastures

Fenerbahce are interested in signing Bordeaux playmaker Samuel Kalu, having identified him as the ideal right winger for manager Vitor Pereira’s team.

The Portuguese coach has not been impressed with the options he has on the right wing, as former Queens Park Rangers ace Bright Osayi-Samuel and Nazim Sangaré have failed to provide enough attacking efficiency.

A tricky right-winger with enough versatility to operate as a left-winger and a support striker, Kalu has caught the eye of the authorities at Fenerbahce.

And according to aspor, the Turkish giants have scheduled a meeting with Bordeaux, the player’s employers, for next week to kick off transfer negotiations.

Kalu, who netted four goals and supplied an assist in 20 Ligue 1 matches last season, is one of Bordeaux’s most influential stars.

The French side will expectedly demand top dollar for the 23-year-old, who they acquired from KAA Gent for 8.5 million euros in 2018 and whose contract will not expire until the summer of 2023.
