There are still two weeks left in the transfer window, but one of Nigeria’s midfielders is currently without a club after parting ways with his Lithuanian side
Forgotten Super Eagles midfielder Ogeny Onazi has left FK Zalgiris Vilnius just six months after signing for the Lithuanian club.
Onazi joined Zalgiris Vilnius in February after mutually terminating his contract with Danish Superliga side SönderjyskE.
However, six months after signing the one-year deal, he has parted ways with The Green-Whites. According to Futbol Baltico, it was a mutual agreement between the two parties.
It’s a surprising decision, though, given he has played consistently this season. The 28-year-old made 26 appearances in all competitions for the club, including four in the Champions League qualifiers, where he scored a goal in the first round qualifying.
Onazi also scored two times and provided one assist in 19 league games for the side. The former Lazio man is a Nigerian international with 51 caps, but he hasn’t played for the three-time African champions since 2018.
