The number of Nigerian footballers in the Spanish top-flight could increase by one should Valencia return with an improved bid for their Nigerian target
Valencia have jumped ahead of other competitors after making a bid for Almeria forward Umar Sadiq.
But, according to Spanish publications Super Deporte, Almeria rejected the Mestalla club’s offer for being ‘financially ridiculous’.
However, the Spanish La Liga giants could be back with an improved bid as they have reportedly already agreed personal terms with Sadiq.
Almeria reportedly want €30 million for the former AS Roma striker who only arrived in Spain from Partizan Belgrade last year for €6 million.
Sadiq’s profile and market value have skyrocketed following a stunning debut campaign in which he scored 20 goals and recorded seven assists in the Segunda Division.
The huge transfer fee slammed on the Nigerian forward has already discouraged Sevilla – one of the 24-year-old’s earliest known admirers – from kicking off negotiations with Almeria for their prized asset.
Almeria will remain in the second-tier of Spanish football next term after failing to gain promotion via the playoffs.
But Sadiq could still fulfill a personal dream of playing in La Liga if the right offer comes in from a La Liga side.
