Trabzonspor target Nigeria’s Russia 2018 World Cup star

The Blue Sea Storm is in the market for a left fullback and has identified one of Nigeria’s defenders as a possible transfer target

Trabzonspor are interested in signing Super Eagles left-back Bryan Idowu to fill in the deficit in their defence ahead of the 2020/21 league season, says Sporx

Coach Abdullahi Avici’s men claimed a fantastic 5-3 victory over Umrayenispor on Wednesday, a win inspired by Nigerian forward Anthony Nwakaeme.

Still, the Black Sea Storm are not convinced of the options they have at fullback and are working on a list of potential targets, one of which is Idowu.

Idowu is a full Nigerian international and was a key member of the Super Eagles squad that failed to make it past the group stages at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

On loan from Lokomotiv Moscow, the 28-year-old spent last season at Khimki, where he contributed three goals and two assists in 27 Russian Premier League games.

Khimki have already made his loan deal permanent as he inked a two-year deal that will expire in 2023. Still, Trabzonspor are not giving up on their man.

If Idowu decides to join the Black Sea Storm, he will have a compatriot as a captain. According to reports,  Trabzonspor are ready to hand star man Nwakaeme the skipper’s armband ahead of the next campaign.
