Super Eagles stars on the receiving end of Arsenal thrashing

The Gunners were dominant in their pre-season friendly against Watford, who had a couple of Nigerian internationals in their team

It was a bad day at the office for Super Eagles stars Oghenekaro Etebo and Emmanuel Dennis as they were on the receiving end of a thrashing from Arsenal.

The two Nigerian players were in action as the Hornets lost 4-1 to Arsenal in a pre-season friendly encounter played at the Gunners training ground.

Etebo featured for 65 minutes while Dennis played the opening 45 minutes. However, it was a day to forget for both players as Arsenal ran riot.

Mikel Arteta’s men took the lead through Eddie Nketiah, but Philip Zinckernagel levelled scores for the newly-promoted Premier League side before half-time.

However, Arsenal’s quality showed in the second half as goals from Alexandre Lacazette, Kieran Tierney and Miguel Azeez sealed a comfortable victory.

The loss should serve as a reality check for Xisco Muñoz’s, who are making a return to the Premier League after their relegation in the 2019/2020 season.

They open their Premier League campaign with a home clash against Aston Villa, but before then, they play Crystal Palace on Sunday in their final pre-season game.
