It is a case of now or try again next year for Ogenyi Onazi and Shehu Abdullahi as they go in search of redemption in the UEFA Champions League tonight.
They would have to borrow the Avengers “whatever it takes” line as they go out in battle, each on a mission to cancel two-goal deficits.
Super Eagles midfielder Onazi will be in action for his Zalgiris side, as they welcome Ferencvaros to the LFF Stadionas. Zalgiris lost 2-0 away at Ferencvaros, and if they are going to qualify for the next round, they would need to overturn the deficit.
Onazi has featured in 18 games for the Lithuanian side since he arrived at the beginning of the season. He has been able to show his quality in the Zalgiris team, and as such, they will be counting on him to bring the goods for them tonight.
Fresh off from helping his Omomia side win the Cypriot Super Cup, Shehu Abdullahi was on the losing end when his team went away to Dinamo Zagreb.
He will hope to help his team in their quest for redemption as they seek to overturn a 2-0 deficit. The fullback has played an integral part in Omonia’s success since he joined from Bursaspor at the beginning of last season.
Zalgiris and Omonia have never reached the Champions League group stage, and they both face two sides who know how to navigate through the Champions League qualifiers.
Achieving victory would be a massive feat for both teams as it would be a major milestone in their history.
