Super Eagles forward Anthony Nwakaeme opened his pre-season account on Monday after registering his name on the scoresheet in Trabzonspor’s game against Kasimpasa.
The former Hapoel Beer Sheva striker scored a vital 25th-minute goal to cancel Umut Bozok’s opener.
He was replaced at half-time by Abdulkadir Omur. Gervinho sealed the tie with a 78th-minute winner to give the Turkish giants their third win in four games. The bulky striker already has two assists to his name during this pre-season campaign.
Nwakaeme scored seven goals in 35 appearances last season to help Trabzonspor to a fourth-place finish in the Turkish Super Lig.
The 32-year old is highly revered in Turkey after his impressive 2019/20 season, where he scored 11 goals in 29 league appearances.
The Lagos born forward is big and strong, and he uses it to his advantage. Nwakaeme has only one cap for the Super Eagles, which came in November 2017 against Algeria in a 2018 World Cup qualifier.
