NFF plan Ghana, Canada friendly for Super Eagles

The Super Eagles team B failed to shine against Mexico early on Sunday morning, but they will have to brace up for more of such stiff challenges ahead

President of the Nigeria Football Federation Amaju Pinnick has revealed plans by the body to organise international friendly matches for the Super Eagles team B before the year runs to an end.

Far from being confirmed, Pinnick made it known that negotiations are ongoing between the NFF and Ghana and Cameroon and Canada to see the Super Eagles B take advantage of the FIFA break in October.

The venue for the games appears locked on, though, with Pinnick revealing that an agreement is in place to have the games played at the 73,000 capacity M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, the United States.

“This is the launchpad we are providing for you to showcase your talents,” Pinnick told the media.

“This team (Eagles B) is our pride, and we will keep you and monitor you because you are the next big thing in Nigerian football.

“In October, we will be flying the team to Baltimore for friendly games against Ghana possibly, Cameroon and Canada, maybe. We will sort that out in the coming weeks.

“We will tidy up all the documentation. You will be playing at the 73,000 capacity M&T Bank Stadium.”

Meanwhile, the Eagles, captained by Enyimba’s Anayo Iwuala and led out by head coach Gernot Rohr, succumbed to Mexico’s superior firepower at the Los Angeles Coliseum, California, on Sunday, July 4th.

El Tri scored twice in each half to force a 4-0 defeat down the throat of the Nigerian side.

It is Nigeria’s second loss to Mexico, with the Eagles yet to get the better of the Concacaf giants across six matches in all competitions.

  • Stupid thing. Disgracing Nigeria and our rankings falling. World cup is next year and home base is what they are using to play top teams disgracing us

  • "This is the launchpad we are providing for you to showcase your talents,"
    God forbid. LMAOOO

"... and we will keep you and monitor you"
    Fifa scout of the decade

  • Well many were calling for home base players . They were Outplayed in every department. They are just not good enough . It’s shows the strength of the league . It would be better to develop the flying Eagles as they are younger and have prospects . These players were clueless, they were poor and did the country no good . The team that needs matches are the A team. Once teams see the Eagles are playing a B team they will not be fielding their top players . Stop undermining Rohr . The minister needs to concentrate on infrastructure for teams . The NFA need to help promote the league and ensure the club do well on club competitions
