Belgian manager sees the potential in Super Eagles star to become ‘one of the greatest’

Cristiano Ronaldo, Romelu Lukaku, and Lautaro Martinez are the finest strikers in the Italian top-flight at the moment, but Belgium-based gaffer Mario Notaro is tipping a young Nigerian international to make the step up to the elite rank soon

Belgian football manager Mario Notaro is convinced that Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen has the potential to become one of the greatest strikers in Serie A if he maintains his current progressive trajectory.

Osimhen only managed ten goals in his maiden season in the Italian Serie A following his club-record transfer to Napoli from French side Lille.

But, having returned to Napoli for the club’s preseason preparations, the Super Eagles star is working hard with new Il Partenopei boss Luciano Spalletti to improve his technique and movement in the final third.

Notaro, who worked with Osimhen when the Nigerian was at Charleroi, believes the 22-year-old would be unstoppable when he marries his potential with the fundamentals being taught in Naples.

“Victor (Osimhen) still has a lot of room for growth,” the Charleroi assistant manager told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, as per TuttoNapoli.

“He can really become one of the greatest strikers in Serie A. I am sure he has all the potential and age on his side.

“Osimhen is one of those strikers who can play in attack all alone thanks to his very fast progressions. He is rightly working a lot on the technique to combine it with the other characteristics he already possesses.”

Osimhen is already showing improvement as the former Wolfsburg lad notched four goals in 37 minutes as Napoli secured a 12-0 victory in their first pre-season match of the summer.
