To his title last May, Anadolu Efes won against FC Barcelona 86-81 in the final against Turkish Airlines Euroleague.

The Turkish club won the European championship for the first time in its history. Far from resting on their laurels, the leaders of Anadolu Efes are already preparing for the following season.

Vasilije Micic extends by three years

In order to give themselves the same chances as during the previous season, the Istanbul-based club decided to extend Vasilije Micic, as explained here.

The Serbian leader was impressive during the final oven and the European Cup. So he hit the eye of several NBA teams.

The main objective of this offseason for Anadolu Efes was to secure it so that it did not yield to the NBA’s calls. Vasilije Micic (1.96 m) has extended his contract by three more years.

The brilliant 27-year-old will now be able to focus on the next season and allow his club to retain its Euroleague title. In addition to Micic, the Anadolu took the opportunity to extend his winger James Anderson for another season.

A success that is welcomed even in the political sphere

These extensions are taken seriously by the Turkish club’s leaders. The goal is to have a team that is always competitive to shade Fenerbahçe at home and compete with the best European teams.

This victory against FC Barcelona was received with great enthusiasm in Turkey and was welcomed by the highest political authorities in the country.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan congratulated and thanked the players for their performances. The same is true of the president of the Turkish Basketball Federation.

The former Efes and NBA member had expressed his pride at seeing his training club on the roof of Europe.

Efes have yet to repeat the same performance in the next season.
