The Turkish club has found no joy in moving on their Nigerian import despite making it clear that his services were no longer required
2013 Afcon-winning striker Brown Ideye and Turkish Super Lig side Goztepe are yet to arrive at a satisfying conclusion for all parties regarding the transfer situation surrounding the former Nigerian international.
It’s been more than three weeks since Goztepe transfer-listed Ideye following his less-than-impressive output in the recently-concluded top-flight campaign.
The ex-Sochaux hero found the back of the net just twice in 30 league games, but other teammates were excellent as Ünal Karaman’s men admirably finished in 10th position on the Super Lig table.
But, according to the Turkish media, including the Milliyet, no club has stepped forward to inquire about Ideye, who only joined Goztepe last summer from Greek side, Aris Saloniki. His two-year contract expires next year.
The former West Brom record signing has since returned to the Urla Adnan Süvari Facilities, where Goztepe are having their pre-season preparations ahead of the 2021/22 season.
Ideye has also reportedly refused to heed Goztepe’s call for his contract to be mutually terminated, with the striker choosing to see out the remainder of his two-year deal.
The 32-year-old currently earns an annual salary of €700,000.
