‘The God that did it for Iheanacho will do it for chukwueze today’- Nigerians back Villarreal star against Man Utd

The 21-year-old attacker will line up for the Yellow Submarines tonight as they attempt to win their first major European trophy

There won’t be a lack of Nigerian support and prayers for Chukwueze when he turns out for Villarreal in the Europa League Final clash against Manchester United.

Villarreal take on the Red Devils in the final of Europe’s second club competition, with the Spanish side hoping to win their first major European trophy.

Chukwueze has been key to their run to the final, providing five assists and scoring one goal in 11 games. There were initial fears he would miss the final after picking up an injury in the second leg of the semifinal clash against Arsenal.

However, he has been passed fit, although it remains to be seen if he gets to start or play as a substitute.

Nonetheless, apart from Man Utd fans, the whole of Nigeria has thrown their support behind one of the country’s golden boys.

Nigerians took to Twitter to reveal their support for Chukwueze, saying they are backing their countryman just as they did for Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi in the FA Cup final against Chelsea.

Man Utd are favourites for the trophy, but Villarreal have a three-time Europa League winner in Unai Emery as their coach.

Only five Nigerians have won the competition before, but Chukwueze could be the sixth should Villarreal cause an upset.
