The 2013 African champions are already scheduled to play their arch-rivals next month but have now secured another game in July
Nigeria’s Super Eagles are set to clash with Mexico’s El Tri in an international friendly encounter at the Los Angeles Coliseum on July 4.
The Mexican National Team announced in a statement released on their official social media pages. The friendly comes exactly a month after Nigeria’s game against Cameroon on June 4 in Austria.
Gernot Rohr’s men are trying to stay active after the CAF World Cup qualifiers initially scheduled to start next month was moved to September.
The list for the Cameroon clash has already been released, but it’s not clear if it is the same set of players that would also be involved against the North Americans.
Nigeria and Mexico are no strangers to each other, having clashed five times, with three games ending in a draw and two in a Super Eagles defeat, including the penalty shoot loss at the 1995 Confederations Cup.
The last time both sides met was in 2014, also in the United States, with the game ending in a goalless draw.
