After a brilliant season for several Nigerian stars in Europe, quite a few of them could be on the move this summer, including Nigeria’s Monaco-owned winger
Olympiacos Piraeus manager Pedro Martins has identified Henry Onyekuru as the man to help boost his team’s attacking output and has urged the club’s technical director to get the Super Eagles star this transfer window, as per WebAslan.
Olympiacos finished the 2020/21 season as the undisputed champions of Greece, establishing their superiority by winning 28 of 36 matches, losing just twice, and securing 26 more points than second-place PAOK.
Pedro Martins’ side had the best attacking record in the country, smashing home an incredible 82 goals, 22 more than their closest rivals.
But the Red-Whites were surprisingly stopped from claiming the league and cup double when PAOK outscored them 2-1 in the final of the Greek Cup a week ago.
Onyekuru can make a great team even better, and Olympiacos have reportedly contacted the Nigerian international.
The former Eupen hero scored five goals and made four assists in only 14 matches while on loan at Galatasaray.
The Turkish giants are not interested in taking up the €4.3 million option to purchase Onyekuru outright from Monaco, leaving the coast clear for other suitors to negotiate with the flying winger.
Fenerbahce are among the clubs keen on signing the 23-year-old who has a contract with Monaco until 2024.
