Iheanacho can lead Leicester City to FA Cup glory, says former Levski Sofia Winger

The 24-year-old has been the top man for the Foxes this year and will hope to cap it off with a FA Cup win over Chelsea

Former Nigerian winger Garba Lawal has backed Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho to lead Leicester City to their first FA Cup glory against Chelsea on Saturday.

Recall that the Nigerian international scored the solitary goal as the Foxes defeated Southampton in the Semi-Final last month (April).

The Nigerian international is enjoying his best campaign in England. Iheanacho has scored 18 goals and registered seven assists in all competitions for the Foxes this season.

Five of the goals have come in the FA Cup, and that has already taken him above Ivory Coast and Chelsea legend Didier Drogba as the highest-scoring African in the competition.

Chelsea go into the clash as favourites, Leicester’s hopes will rest on Iheanacho, and Lawal insists the Nigerian could help Brendan Rodgers men cause an upset.

Speaking with Soccernet.ng, Lawal stated that Iheanacho has shown that he’s currently unplayable going by his goal-scoring form for Leicester City.

“The FA Cup final between Chelsea and Leicester City will be a tough one,” he said. However, I am optimistic that Kelechi Iheanacho knows what to do to help the Foxes lift the trophy on Saturday.

“To be frank, if there is one player that can wreck the Chelsea defence, then it is Iheanacho based on his free-scoring ability in the Premier League and the FA Cup as well.

“I certainly believe Iheanacho can lead Leicester City to their first FA Cup glory against a more experienced and talented Chelsea side,” the ex-international concluded.
