The young striker finally found the back of the net after going seven league matches without success in front of goal
Terem Moffi scored his ninth Ligue 1 goal of the campaign for Lorient at Lens, his first goal since his brilliant brace in his side’s 2-2 draw at Monaco back in February.
Gael Kakuta broke the deadlock for the hosts from the penalty spot in the 16th minute at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis.
But Moffi found space in the home side’s danger area to head home the equaliser from a cute Enzo Le Fee free-kick on the half-hour mark.
However, Corentin Jean struck moments before halftime to give Lens the advantage heading into the break.
Since Moffi’s double at Monaco, the 21-year-old has featured against Lille, Nimes, Saint-Etienne, Montpellier, Nice, Nantes and Brest without beating the opposing goalkeepers.
However, the former Kortrijk man supplied two assists within that period, with the latest arriving in the 1-0 defeat of Brest last weekend.
Moffi’s goal didn’t save Christophe Pelissier’s men from another away loss, though, as further goals from Arnaud Kalimuendo-Muinga and Simon Banza helped Lens secure a comprehensive 4-1 victory on Sunday.
The defeat leaves Lorient only two points above the relegation zone as they remain firmly in the battle with Nimes and Moses Simon’s Nantes to avoid the drop.
