Leicester City’s Kelechi Iheanacho Sets New Goals Landmark After Scoring Against West Brom

The Nigerian striker can’t seem to stop scoring in England, and he has yet again out-foxed the Baggies defence to put himself on the scorer’s chart once more

Kelechi Iheanacho achieved a new personal goalscoring record in a single Premier League season after hitting the target in Leicester City’s 3-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion at the King Power Stadium on Thursday evening.

Brendan Rodgers’ men enforced their superiority from kick-off and led the Baggies three-nil at the break following goals from Jamie Vardy, Jonny Evans, and Iheanacho.

Vardy and Evans set the ball rolling for the home side within the opening 26 minutes before Iheanacho, ten minutes before the break, pounced on a Jamie Vardy layoff to send a cute finish past Sam Johnstone in the visitors’ goal.

Iheanacho’s latest strike is his ninth Premier League goal this season, one more than his previous best of eight that he managed for Manchester City in the 2015/2016 campaign.

The 24-year-old has now found the back of the net 16 times in all competitions for the Foxes, the highest he has ever scored in a single campaign.

Eleven of those goals have come in his last seven matches, with the Leicester City number 14 firing past Burnley, Brighton, Sheffield United, Manchester United, West Ham, Southampton, and now West Brom.

Only against Manchester City has Iheanacho not celebrated a goal since the beginning of March.

Sam Allardyce introduced Nigerian defender Semi Ajayi after the interval, which helped the visitors keep Iheanacho and co at bay for the second period.

But the damage had already been done with the victory taking third-placed Leicester City going four points clear of Chelsea.
