The Nigerian international made two crucial contributions to set the Foxes on the road to victory over the Eagles
Kelechi Iheanacho delivered another match-winning performance at the King Power Stadium to inspire Leicester City to a come-from-behind 2-1 win over Crystal Palace.
Ten places separated the Foxes and the Eagles ahead of their matchday 33 clash, and it reflected in the home side’s display, with Brendan Rodgers’ men dominating every aspect of the game.
But they could not make their superiority count for the most part as the visitors looked ready to settle for the 12th draw in 42 encounters between the two.
However, Iheanacho would have none of it as the ex-Manchester City man continued his fine form in front of goal.
The Super Eagles striker made his first telling contribution in the game when he provided the assist to Timothy Castagne’s equaliser five minutes after the halftime break.
That Leicester City’s leveller came after Iheanacho held the ball up well before rolling it into the path of Timothy Castagne, who did justice to it by rifling it emphatically into the top corner.
Wilfred Zaha had given Roy Hodgson’s side a first half lead following good work from Nigeria Football Federation target Eberechi Eze.
And with just ten minutes of regulation time left, Iheanacho raced to a long ball upfield from Jonny Evans, danced past a defender before smashing an unstoppable drive past goalkeeper Vicente Guaita to break Palace hearts.
Iheanacho’s latest contribution means the 24-year-old has now been directly involved in 14 goals in his last nine appearances for Leicester – 12 goals and two assists.
He closes an excellent Monday night football that also sees Victor Osimhen score to guide Napoli to a convincing 2-0 victory over Torino.
