Confederations Cup: Enyimba On The Verge Of Elimination As CAF Denies Their Request

The People’s Elephants are scheduled to play Al-Ahly Benghazi on Wednesday in the matchday five of Africa’s second club cup competition, but they may not be able to honour the game

Enyimba risk a walkover defeat and a potential elimination from this year’s CAF Confederations Cup if they fail to play their clash against Al-Ahly Benghazi on Wednesday.

The two-time African champions take on the Libyan opponents in their Group A matchday five clash tomorrow at the Arena Stadium.

However, there’s a high possibility that Fatai Amoo’s men won’t be able to play the game tomorrow as they are still stuck in Nigeria.

Soccernet can confirm that the team has been facing travelling challenges as there is no direct flight from Nigeria to Libya due to travel restrictions.

And that leaves them with the option of travelling to Europe (Spain) before making the trip to Libya or travelling by private jet.

However, it appears the first option looks likely, but that would definitely see them miss the game tomorrow as they might not arrive in Spain until Wednesday.

The club already submitted a request that the game is moved to Friday to prevent a walkover defeat, but CAF denied their request.

As a result, the Aba-based club could lose the tie via a walkover and be potentially eliminated from the competition.

Enyimba currently sit second in Group A with six points from four games, two behind Orlando Pirates and two ahead of Al-Ahly.
