Nigerian Connection: Ndidi Assists, Iheanacho Scores As Leicester City Are Held At Burnley

The Foxes fell behind at Turf Moor to an early Matej Vydra goal but the two Nigerian stars combined beautifully to drag Brendan Rodgers’ men back on levelled terms at halftime

Kelechi Iheanacho grabbed his second Premier League goal of the season on Wednesday evening but it was not enough to earn Leicester City the maximum points as Brendan Rodgers’ men settled for a 1-1 draw in their clash against Burnley at the Turf Moor.

The hosts started the brighter of the two teams, with Matej Vydra capitalising on Choudhury’s sloppy mistake in possession to open the scoring for the Clarets after just four minutes.

But Leicester City, fresh from a humbling 3-1 defeat to Arsenal, needed inspiration for somewhere, and it arrived thanks to the ingenuity of their two Nigerian imports.

Ndidi, who started the game in central defence, took the aerial route as he searched for Iheanacho with a clever pass over the top of the hosts’ defence.

The Super Eagles striker pulled off of Mee, allowed the ball to drop over his left shoulder before sending a stunning, first-time left-footed volley low past Burnley goalkeeper Pope from inside the area. It was a great goal to equalise with for the visitors.

Iheanacho was, however, hauled off in place of Marc Albrighton in the 67th minute as the Foxes searched in vain for the goal that would earn their first league win in the last five matches.

But it was not to be as Burnley held on for the draw to deny Leicester City the chance to momentarily climb above Manchester United into second place on the league table.
