Highly Rated Nigerian Youngster Akinkunmi Amoo Scores Brilliant Wonder Goal In Hammarby’s Win

The former Golden Eaglets star has four goals in four appearances this season, but the latest one is the pick of them all

Akinkunmi Amoo scored a wonder goal in Hammarby’s thrilling 3-2 victory over AIK in the Sweden Cup encounter between both teams on Sunday afternoon.

Amoo signed for Hammarby last June, but he only started playing for the club in December. The 18-year-old had a debut to remember, scoring twice in the 5-0 win over FC Gute in the Sweden Cup.

He added another strike to his brace with a goal in the 3-0 win over Oskarshamns AIK on the last day of February.

However, his latest strike against AIK is the best of the bunch. The former Nigeria U-17 side put Hammarby ahead in the 19th minute with a strike made from Lionel Messi’s playbook.

Picking up the ball from just outside the centre-half, Amoo evaded his first marker with a brilliant first touch to go on a fantastic run before cutting onto his right to release a brilliant curling shot that left the keeper rooted to the spot.

However, Hammarby were pegged back in the 49th minute as Saku Ylaetupa drew AIK level. Vladimir Rodic restored the home side’s lead, but Sebastian Larsson’s penalty restored parity for AIK.

But Hammarby had the last laugh after Gustav Ludwigson fired home the winner eight minutes from time.
