“Can We Please Play Manchester United Now!” – Fans React To Leicester City Striker Kelechi Iheanacho’s Arrival To Super Eagles Camp

The former Manchester City man breezed into camp on Wednesday morning to complete the 24-man playing personnel expected for the Afcon qualifiers later this month

The last man being awaited, Leicester City’s striker Kelechi Iheanacho has finally joined the Super Eagles camp, drawing out differing reactions from Super Eagles fans on social media site Twitter.

Iheanacho has dominated the headlines in England and Nigeria in recent times after enjoying a prolific run with the Foxes scoring seven goals in his last four matches.

The best of the 24-year-old’s six Premier League goals arrived ten days ago when he smashed a hat-trick past Sheffield United to lead Leicester City to a 5-0 victory at the King Power Stadium.

And when no one thought he could do better than that, Iheanacho then dropped a man-of-the-match performance against Manchester United in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup at the weekend.

The Super Eagles forward scored a brilliant brace against the Red Devils to power the Foxes to a 3-1 home win and lift them to the semifinals of the competition.

It has been a pleasant time for many Super Eagles fans to see the former Golden Eaglets hero rise back to reckoning for his club just before Nigeria take on the Benin Republic and Lesotho.

One user even wished that Nigeria was playing Man United and not Benin, as with Iheanacho in the team, goals and victory would be inevitable.

But many who support Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side among them have confessed to being left hurt by Iheanacho’s match-winning performance three days ago.

As Iheanacho’s arrival to camp was announced on Wednesday morning on the official Super Eagles Twitter account, one fan even slammed the admin for not referring to the Nigerian as ‘Senior Man Kelz’, unlike Leicester City mate Wilfred Ndidi.

Overall, fans were delighted to have the in-form striker join the team ahead of crucial Afcon qualifying matches.

Here are some of the reactions on Twitter:

With all 24 invited players in camp, the Super Eagles are battle-ready to face the Benin Republic on March 27 and Lesotho three days later.
