Leicester 1-3 Arsenal: Iheanacho Caged, Ndidi Silenced As Gunners Shoot Down Foxes

Brendan Rodgers’ men missed the chance to go second on the English Premier League table after suffering a stunning defeat against Mikel Arteta

Kelechi Iheanacho earned a rare start, and Wilfred Ndidi was a massive boost in midfield, but Leicester still found Arsenal too hot to handle as the Foxes crumbled to a crushing 3-1 defeat to the Gunners.

Goals from David Luiz, Alexandre Lacazette and Nicholas Pepe powered Arsenal to victory over Leicester City at the King Power Stadium, overturning an early Youri Tielemans’ strike.

With James Maddison out due to injury and Leicester keen to recover from a shock 2-0 defeat at home to Czech outfit Slavia Prague in the Europa League on Thursday evening, Brendan Rodgers started the striking duo of Jamie Vardy and Iheanacho.

With the added motivation to overtake Manchester United into second place, the home side raced to a sixth-minute lead thanks to Tielemans well-struck finish.

But the Foxes took their foot off the throttle, allowing Arsenal equalise through David Luiz and then take the lead courtesy of a Lacazette penalty all before halftime.

Pepe sealed the win shortly after the restart, leaving Leicester without a win in their last two matches.

Iheanacho would be especially disappointed after missing a glorious chance to reduce the deficit for the hosts deep into stoppage time.

The Nigerian forward has only managed one goal in 13 Premier League matches for the Foxes this term.
