Another Nigerian Star Leaves La Liga For Spanish Second Division Side Battling Relegation

Former Golden Eaglets captain Kelechi Nwakali is not the only Nigerian player that will be playing in the Spanish second division for the rest of the season

Spanish second division side, FC Cartagena SAD, announced the signing of Nigerian star Ramon Azeez on a loan deal from Granada for the remainder of the season.

A statement on the club site read: FC Cartagena SAD informs of the agreement reached today with the player Ramón Olamilekan Azeez (Nigeria, 1992) and with Granada CF for the loan of the Spanish-Nigerian soccer player until the end of the season.

Azeez will hope to get more minutes with this move after struggling in the first half of the season. The 28-year-old made just four appearances in all competitions for Granada before joining Cartagena on a loan deal.

The move comes after compatriot, Nwakali also left the Spanish top-flight for the second division, signing for basement side, Alcorcon.

Azeez will also hope to help Cartagena avoid the drop as they are currently second bottom with just 21 points from 23 games.

The Nigerian international has previously featured in La Liga Smartbank with a total of 71 appearances for Almeria, Lugo and Granada.
