Okoye Bounces Back As Ola Aina Helps Fulham To Stunning Draw At Spurs

The Super Eagles shot-stopper started the new year on a losing note, but he was on the winning side on Wednesday night

Maduka Okoye kept his fourth clean sheet in ten Eredivisie games as Sparta Rotterdam secured a 1-0 away victory at Fortuna Sittard.

Okoye and Sparta started the new year with a disappointing home defeat to city rivals, Feyenoord, but they bounced back immediately on Wednesday night.

And Okoye performance was vital, making four brilliant saves to ensure the Castle Lords leave the Fortuna Sittard Stadion with the three points and a clean sheet.

It was Okoye’s tenth appearance in the Dutch top-flight, and he has four clean sheets. Sparta took the three points courtesy of a strike from Lennart Thy in the 57th minute.

Meanwhile, in England, Ola Aina brilliant at the back as Fulham boosted their survival hopes with an impressive 1-1 draw at Tottenham Hotspur.

The Nigerian international made his 13th league appearance of the season as Ivan Cavaleiro’s 74th-minute strike cancelled out Harry Kane’s opener to seal a vital point for Scott Parker’s side.

Fulham remain in the relegation zone with two points behind Brighton in 17th place- but Parker’s men have two games in hand.
