Good News For Osimhen

The Super Eagles star has not played for Gli Azzurri since November due to injuries and Covid-19, but he could e back this weekend

Victor Osimhen is in contention to face Hellas Verona after finally recovering from coronavirus. Osimhen has not played for Napoli since November.

The 22-year-old injured his shoulder in Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sierra Leone and it ruled him out for several weeks.

However, after recovering from the injury, the ex-Lille man tested positive for coronavirus. Osimhen contracted the virus after returning a trip to Nigeria where he celebrated his 22nd birthday.

The Nigerian international came in for criticism for not obeying the Covid-19 guidelines at the party. On his return to Naples, Osimhen tested positive for the virus, which required him to self-isolate for ten days.

The striker tested positive twice again after the isolation period, which made him miss Napoli’s Super Cup loss to Juventus.

But in a statement released by Napoli on Friday evening, Osimhen has finally recovered from the virus and he’s available for selection this weekend.

Osimhen is yet to justify the huge fee Napoli paid to sign him last summer with just two goals in six league appearances.
