Rangers manager, Steven Gerrard, has ruled Leon Balogun out of the Premiership clash against Motherwell on Saturday.
The former Liverpool captain disclosed this in his press conference ahead of the encounter at the Ibrox. Balogun suffered a head injury in Rangers loss to St. Mirren in the Betfred Cup on Wednesday night.
The Nigerian international was taken off in the 84th minute of that loss following a clash of heads with John Obika.
And as a result, he is set to miss the Gers clash against Motherwell on Saturday afternoon. Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Gerrard revealed the Nigerian would miss the match due to medical protocols.
“Balogun is unavailable for tomorrow as we are following medical protocol after a head injury, Gerrard told the media.
However, Gerrard expects the former Brighton and Hove Albion defender to be fit for Rangers trip to St. Johnstone on December 23.
“We’re hoping to have him available for the next one after the weekend, the ex-England star added.
Balogun has had a brilliant start to life at Rangers following his move from Brighton in the summer. The 32-year-old has made 16 appearances in all competitions for Steven Gerrard’s men.
