Rohr Says Sierra Leone Are A Difficult Team But Nigeria Will Be Ready

Nigeria face Sierra Leone in the second leg of their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Tuesday, and the German tactician is expecting a difficult encounter in Freetown

Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr says his side won’t have it easy when they take on the Leone Stars in the second leg of their Afcon qualifier at the Siaka Stevens Stadium, Freetown on Tuesday.

Both teams clash for the second time in four days after they played out an incredible 4-4 draw in the first leg last Friday.

Nigeria looked well on course to record an emphatic win in the first leg after going 4-0 ahead in the first 30 minutes.

However, the Leone stars mounted a fantastic comeback, scoring once in the first half and three in the last twenty minutes to seal a thrilling 4-4 draw.

It was a shocking result for Nigeria, but the three-time African champions have the chance to redeem their image when they take on the same side today.

The Super Eagles go into the clash as favourites once again, but Rohr believes it won’t be easy, even though they hope to seal qualification.

“We wanted to do the four points in the two matches to be qualified, Rohr told Super Eagles TV. It’s possible, and I believe in my team, and I think we can do that.

“It will be difficult like I told you already before the match on the last day (Friday). We saw it in the second-half that they have a good team, but we can play very well.

But the former Bordeaux manager admits his side’s defending needs to improve after conceding three in the last 20 minutes on Friday.

“We showed it in the first 30 minutes the other day (Friday). We want to play like this our football, playing forward, scoring goals. But defending better than we did the last day, he added.
