Nigeria take on Sierra Leone in a doubleheader Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, and about four players are already in the country
Sparta Rotterdam goalkeeper Maduka Okoye is already in Benin ahead of the first leg of Nigeria’s AFCON qualifier against Sierra Leone.
The former Fortuna Dusseldorf goalkeeper landed in Benin on Monday and treated himself to a plate of Nigerian Jollof Rice and Plantain.
Okoye was in goal in Nigeria’s friendly games against Algeria and Tunisia last month, but he will face competition from Daniel Akpeyi for the two games against Sierra Leone.
Okoye is not the only player that has arrived as Kelechi Iheanacho, Oghenekaro Etebo, Ahmed Musa and Paul Onuachu are also in the country.
Musa was pictured with the U-20 team preparing for the WAFU Cup, while Iheanacho, Etebo and Onuachu should arrive in Benin on Tuesday.
The Super Eagles host the Leone Stars at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin on Friday, while the return leg takes place on Tuesday at the Siaka Stevens Stadium, Freetown.
