The Super Eagles star is still searching for his first Serie A goal despite Napoli putting six past Genoa on Sunday evening
Victor Osimhen made his first start for Napoli in the Italian top-flight, but he could not find the back of the net in the six-nil thrashing of Genoa.
The Nigerian made an impressive cameo in the away win over Parma last weekend and was rewarded with a start in his first game at the Stadio San Paolo.
However, despite playing for the whole 90 minutes and Napoli scoring six, Osimhen was not able to score his first competitive goal for Gli Azzurri.
Hirving Lozano opened the scoring in the 10th minute before Piotr Zielinski doubled Napoli’s lead a minute after the break.
Dries Mertens then made it three in the 57th minute while Lozano scored his second and Napoli’s fourth eight minutes later. Eljif Elmas (72) and Matteo Politano (90) sealed an emphatic victory for Gennaro Gattuso’s men.
The win makes it two out of two for Napoli in the new Serie A season. Next up for Gattusos’s side is a tough trip to the home of champions, Juventus.
