Revealed: Why Aribo Will Miss Nigeria’s Clash Against Cote D’Ivoire And Tunisia

The Super Eagles face the Elephants and Carthage Eagles in Austria next month, but they are set to be without the services of the Gers man

Joe Aribo will miss Nigeria’s international friendly games against Cote D’Ivoire and Tunisia after he suffered an injury setback. Aribo has been out of action since he scored his first goal of the season in Rangers victory over ST. Johnstone.

The 24-year-old picked up a calf injury in the encounter and has not returned since then. It was hoped the injury would not keep him out of action for a long time, but Rangers manager, Steven Gerrard has confirmed the Nigerian is out for an extended period.

Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr will now have to do without one of his key men for Nigeria’s two games in October.

Speaking ahead of Gers Scottish Premiership clash against Dundee United, Gerrard revealed Aribo suffered a setback in his recovery, and he is out for the next four to six weeks.

“Joe Aribo has had a setback with an ankle strain and will be missing for four to six weeks, Gerrard said in his press conference.

However, the former Liverpool manager claims there’s a silver lining as Aribo will not need surgery even though it could have been the case.

“It is a big blow with Joe (Aribo) he is a player we rate highly, it is actually good news as was a situation that it could have required surgery, but he doesn’t, and we hope he can be back in four weeks. It will be a blow, however, as he is a major talent.”

Aribo’s is set to miss Rangers clash against Dundee United, Motherwell and Hibs. He also faces a race against time to feature in the Old Firm derby on October 17.
