Top football action continued across Europe with several Nigerian-born stars involved in the thick of the action, Soccernet.ng reports.
Paul Onuachu continues to show why snubbing him for the Super Eagles’ October friendlies was not such a wise move as the gangling forward grabbed another brace in Genk’s 2-2 draw against Oostende in the Belgian First Division A.
The former Midtjylland striker brought the home side back on leveled terms in the ninth minute after McGeehan had opened the scoring for the visitors shortly after kick-off.
Onuachu then scored from the penalty spot seven minutes after the restart to hand Genk the lead. Still, Makhtar Gueye banged in a late equalizer to deny coach Domenico Olivieri’s men the three points at stake.
New Super Eagles invitee Cyriel Dessers was on the bench throughout the encounter.
Onuachu now has six goals in six games played so far this term, while Dessers remains on two strikes, both from the penalty spot.
In Serbia, Umar Sadiq’s Partizan returned to winning ways with a 2-1 defeat of Bačka Palanka at the Stadion Partizana on Monday evening.
Fresh from a 2-1 extra-time loss to Sporting in the Europa League, Partizan struggled to get going against Palanka in the opening stages.
But former Roma star Sadiq got the home side the breakthrough five minutes into the second half with a fine effort.
Tomovic then doubled the hosts’ lead on the hour-mark before Dordevic reduced the deficit for the visitors.
It is the sixth goal in nine Super Liga games for Sadiq, who netted 11 times in the league last season in 18 appearances.
