The Nigerian international was used in an unfamiliar role in the Foxes victory over West Brom, and that has earned him praises from a Leicester legend
Former Leicester centre back Steve Walsh has hailed Wilfred Ndidi’s performance in the club’s 3-0 win over West Brom in their opening Premier League match of the season.
A Timothy Castagne header and a Jamie Vardy brace from the penalty spot secured a comprehensive win for Brendan Rodgers men at the Hawthorns.
While Vardy received most of the plaudits, it was Ndidi that caught the eye of Walsh. Ndidi has grown to become one of the best defensive midfielders in the world and also an important player in Leicester squad.
However, on Sunday, he played in an unfamiliar centre back role, but he never put a foot wrong. His performance received praises Walsh, who said he was not surprised with how he settled into that position.
“I’m not surprised at all how Ndidi played. After a difficult start, he was brilliant,” Walsh said on the Extra-time podcast.
With Jonny Evans still suspended after receiving a straight red card on the final day of last season, Ndidi could remain in his new role when Leicester welcome Burnley to the King Power Stadium on Sunday.
