Alex Iwobi came on as a substitute as Everton made it two wins out two in the Premier League this season following a thrilling 5-2 victory over Semi Ajayi’s West Brom.
Iwobi had missed the opening day win over Tottenham Hotspur and the Carabao Cup defeat of Salford City due to a knock.
However, he made his return on Saturday, coming on as a substitute for hat-trick hero, Dominic Calvert Lewin.
Although the win was comfortable, it was West Brom that took the lead inside the opening ten minutes courtesy of a fine finish from Grady Diangana.
But Calvert-Lewin then levelled scores for Ancelotti’s men in the 31st minute. James Rodriguez put Everton ahead on the stroke of half-time.
The Colombian international shot through a host of West Brom defenders that included Nigeria’s Semi Ajayi to put the Toffees ahead.
There was to be more drama before the break as Kieran Gibbs was sent off for an off-ball incident. The second half kicked off the same way the first started wIth West Brom scoring the first goal and drawing level.
Slaven Bilic’s men equalised just a minute after the break courtesy of a superb freekick from Pereira. However, Michael Keane put Everton ahead again in the 54th minute.
Calvert Lewin then scored two quickfire goals in the 62nd and 66th minute to complete his hat-trick and seal a comprehensive win for Everton.
