After almost a year without playing, the Super Eagles are set to make a potential return in September international break
Nigeria’s national team manager, Gernot Rohr, says he has his 30-man provisional list for the potential friendly games next month.
The Super Eagles last game was a 4-2 win over Lesotho in the 2021 Africa qualifier clash between the two sides last November.
Although they were scheduled to play a doubleheader qualifier against Sierra Leone in March, it was postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak.
But following a three months break, the beautiful game returned in May at club level with international football set to resume in September also.
The Super Eagles are expected to play against two opponents that are not known next month, but that has not stopped Rohr from naming his provisional squad. Rohr revealed this in an interview with German-based Nigerian journalist, Oma Akatugba.
“I did also a provisional 30 players fore eventually September camp,” Rohr said. With a cure for coronavirus still not found, there’s always a possibility that the games may not hold.

However, Rohr is hoping that’s not the case, although he did admit there could be some restrictions.
“I hope we can do something in Septemeber,” he added. We need to work to see everybody again playing, but it is not easy, unfortunately, these restrictions for travelling and for coronavirus.
