Gers’ fans could not hide their delight as their big Nigerian defender confirms he is back in training following an injury lay-off
Rangers defender Leon Balogun has taken to social media site Twitter to announce he is fit again to play ahead of this weekend’s clash against Hamilton Academical, and that got the club’s supporters excited.
Balogun, who joined the Glasgow giants this summer from Wigan Athletic on a free transfer, has developed quickly into a fans’ favourite after impressive showings in his first couple of games for Steven Gerrard’s side.
Displaying intelligence, pace and composure on the ball, the Super Eagles defender, was rock-solid versus Aberdeen and St Mirren, before he was forced off with a quad strain in the next fixture against St Johnstone.
As a result of the injury setback, the 32-year-old former Mainz star missed the Gers’ last two league games against Livingston and Kilmarnock.
But the Nigeria international has confirmed that he is fit again and has returned to training this week, making him available for selection in Saturday’s away tie against Hamilton Academical.
“Back on the pitch with the lads and went straight back to winning ways,” He wrote on his Twitter handle.
Many Rangers’ fans responded to the tweet with excitement, showing love to the big Nigerian centre-back.
Here’s a selection of reactions from Twitter:
