Salzburg Confirms The Signing Of Former Golden Eaglets Star

Another member of Nigeria’s U-17 squad of 2019 is on the move after Akinkunmi Amoo signed for Swedish side Hammarby

Former Golden Eaglets captain, Samson Tijani joined RB Salzburg, the Austrian side has confirmed. The 18-year-old signed a five-year deal that will run till May 2025.

Salzburg beat the likes of Club Brugge and Aarhus to land the services of the midfielder. Tijani was the captain of the Golden Eaglets team that finished in fourth place at the 2019 African U-17 Championship in Tanzania.

Following the Manu Garba led team fourth-place finish at the tournament, Tijani also captained the team at the 2019 U-17 World Cup in Brazil.

He scored twice in Nigeria’s opening group match against Hungary. His first came from the penalty spot in the 20th minute before adding a second five minutes from time as Nigeria sealed a 4-2 win.  However, he could not lead the team past the second round as they were beaten 3-1 by the Netherlands.
