Reports: Fenerbahce Makes Super Eagles Star Top Transfer Target

The Turkish giants have fallen way behind their rivals in the race for the Super Lig title and have identified a Nigerian forward as the man to fire them back to the top

Fenerbahce have begun moves to convince Monaco to release Super Eagles forward Henry Onyekuru to them on a temporary basis, according to reports in the EnsonHaber.

Onyekuru spent the second half of the season at Galatasaray, where he was only able to manage a goal, and an assist in ten league matches as the Yellow-Reds title challenge crumbled after the campaign resumed from the coronavirus enforced break.

That unsuccessful spell, however, did little to tarnish the reputation of the former Eupen star, who was excellent during his first experience with Galatasaray.

Onyekuru, then on-loan from Everton, smashed in 14 goals and contributed five assists as Gala romped to their 22nd Super Lig title last season.

Monaco, who acquired Onyekuru from Everton for €12 million last summer, showed the desire to make the 23-year-old attacker a part of their plans for next term by prematurely ending his stay in Turkey while matches abound to play.

But Fenerbahce are reportedly keen on the exciting Nigerian winger and are willing to pay a loan fee to secure the service of the former Anderlecht star.
