Ndidi’s Mistake Contributes To Ten-Man Leicester Loss At Four-Star Bournemouth

Wilfred Ndidi conceded a penalty, and Caglar Soyuncu saw red as the Foxes succumbed to a shocking 4-1 defeat in the hands of the struggling Cherries at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday evening.

A Junior Stanislas spot-kick and a  Dominic Solanke brace helped Bournemouth secure a morale-boosting come-from-behind victory to boost their survival hopes and dent a huge blow in Leicester’s Champions League aspirations.

Kelechi Iheanacho had a hand in the visitor’s opener as Brendan Rodgers’ men recorded their 10th loss of the league campaign.

In an opening half that Leicester completely dominated, it took just 23 minutes for Jamie Vardy to notch his 23rd goal of the season, with a little help from Iheanacho.

The Super Eagles striker slid in down the left-wing and chipped the ball over the advancing Bournemouth goalie Aaron Ramsdale. Defenders Gosling and Kelly then made a mess of the clearance on the line allowing Vardy the chance to bundle the ball in from two yards out.

Iheanacho, who has recorded five goals and three assists in 18 league games this term, made way for Dennis Praet at halftime as Rodgers rejigged his tactical formation.

But that decision backfired when the hosts struck two goals in two second-half minutes to turn the game on its head.

First, a Schmeichel error forced Ndidi to give away a penalty which Stanislas converted before Solanke doubled the advantage for Eddie Howe’s men seconds later.

Soyuncu then got dismissed for violent conduct immediately after that goal, and the roof came crashing down on the visitors.

An Evans own goal followed before Solanke grabbed his second of the evening to complete the Foxes humiliation.

That win takes Bournemouth up to 18th on the table, but they remain three points adrift of safety, while Leicester may just have opened the door for Manchester United and Chelsea to jump in and steal their Champions League spot.
