Mohamed Salah: Changing lives off the pitch

Egyptian star, Mohamed Salah is adored by fans for his numerous achievements, from making it to the world cup with Egypt for the first time in 28 years to his achievements at club level. The most recent being winning the Premier League with Liverpool, after narrowly missing out last season.

The Liverpool forward doesn’t show sign of slowing down anytime soon, he has remained great shape putting out world-class performances week by week for his English side.

To add to his accolades, Salah was recently recognized as the best footballer in Africa and Premier League by 1xBet.

At home, Mohamed is adored not just for his soccer achievements, but also for his path from slums to the pinnacle of fame.

In this article, we will be highlighting some of his humanitarian deeds and how he has been working on making people lives better in his own way.

Salah forgives thief and set him up for a decent life

In November 2017, while Salah was playing for Egypt at a World Cup qualifier match in Alexandria, his family home was burgled.  Two days later, the offender was detained, and the footballer’s father filed a lawsuit against him.

Salah’s reaction was unpredictable – he asked his father to withdraw the lawsuit, personally met with the thief, gave him some money and helped with finding a job.

Even if the offender does not take the path of correction, Mohamed gave him a chance to change his life for the better.

Turning down a Villa

For qualifying Egypt for their first World Cup in decades, Mamdouh Abbas, an Egyptian businessman, decided to reward Salah by offering a luxury villa as a present.

The Liverpool man turned down the gift and said he would be happy if Abbas donated money to develop the village of Nagrig.

Building a school in his village

Salah has always shown interest in developing his village. He built a local school, a football field and also purchased equipment for a gym.

Maher Shetia, The mayor of Nagrig where Salah was born, had kind words to say about him: “he’s not just glorified our village, but also allocates money for its development. Mohamed financed the ventilation room in the Baziun hospital, bought medications and ambulances.”

Spending time with local children during holidays

According to Basyuni, a childhood friend of Mohammed, during Ramadan Salah visits with gifts for local children. He likes to give autographs and take pictures with everyone. The star remains as he was in childhood.

The local school and the unfinished youth centre were named after Salah. There are many more good deeds of the Egyptian that are not listed in this article. It would be nice if there were more such selfless people in the world.
