Iheanacho Back With a Bang But Ndidi Error Costs Leicester As Iwobi Flies With Everton

Kelechi Iheanacho got his first goal since the restart, but Wilfred Ndidi’s handball proved costly as Alex Iwobi’s Everton forced a 2-1 defeat down the throat of Leicester City at the Goodison Park on Wednesday evening.

The three Super Eagles stars battled hard for their respective teams, but two quickfire goals in the opening 20 minutes helped Iwobi and his Toffees teammates claim all the three points at stake against the struggling Foxes.

Richarlison got Everton going after just ten minutes, and six minutes later, the hosts were awarded a penalty after VAR adjudged Ndidi to have handled the ball in the area.

Sigurdsson stepped up, paused, and rolled the ball down the middle to score Everton’s second of the game.

The visitors had been toothless before the interval, and Brendan Rodgers changed his system to a 4-4-2 at the break, sending in Iheanacho to partner Vardy upfront.

The switch paid dividends immediately as Iheanacho found the back of the net for Rodgers’ men five minutes into the second half.

The Nigerian striker could have equalized for the Foxes shortly after, but his effort flew over the bar when he tried to flick the ball over Keane’s head.

Carlo Ancelotti sent Yerry Mina in to replace Iwobi in the 70th minute as Everton fought desperately to keep a rejuvenated Leicester at bay.

However, Leicester City could not find a late equalizer despite their best efforts with this latest defeat leaving the Foxes just one point above fourth-placed Chelsea and three points above Manchester United in fifth.
