Eagles Roundup: Ndidi, Aina, Azeez Return To Winning Ways; No Joy For Chukwueze, Iwobi

Non-stop football action continued across major leagues in Europe on Thursday with a few Nigerian stars in the thick of it all.

Wilfred Ndidi and his Leicester City teammates put behind their embarrassing 4-1 loss at Bournemouth, to lash high-flying Sheffield United with a 2-0 whooping.

Ayoze Perez and Demarai Gray scored either side of halftime to lift the Foxes to just their second win since the restart and keep Man United in fifth.

Alex Iwobi saw action for an hour in Everton’s 1-1 draw at home to Aston Villa. Konta gave the visitors the lead after 72 minutes, but Iwobi’s replacement, Theo Walcott grabbed the equalizer late on to ensure a share of the points.

Granada are still in with a chance to qualify for Europe following a come back 2-1 win at Mallorca. Hernandez handed the struggling hosts the lead in the 20th-minute, but Victor Diaz levelled proceedings on the stroke of halftime.

Carlos Fernandez then secured all three points for the visitors midway through the second half before Ramon Azeez was sent in to nullify any attacks the hosts may plan late on.

That defeat means Mallorca are relegated from La Liga.

Samuel Chukwueze and Villarreal fought hard at the Santiago Bernabeu, but there was no stopping Real Madrid, who carved out a 2-1 win to lift their 34th La Liga crown.

A pair of Karim Benzema goals set the hosts on their way to a memorable night before Iborra saved some pride for the Yellow Submarines late in the game.

Ola Aina was a second-half substitute in Torino’s crushing 3-0 victory over Genoa at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino, to confirm their place, at least for another campaign, in the Serie A.

Gleason Bremer, Sasa Lukić, and Andrea Belotti were the goal scorers for the hosts on a comfortable night in Turin.
