Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho were in action, but Leicester City’s hopes of securing a top-four spot suffered a massive setback following a 3-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday evening.
Ndidi who is one of Leicester’s best players this campaign could not prevent his side from letting in three goals and was replaced in the 70th minute.
Iheanacho who has scored twice since the league resumed was a second-half substitute, but could not spark a revival.
Brendan Rodgers side dominated possession, but it was Spurs who scored the goals. Jose Mourinho’s side opened the scoring in the sixth minute when Harry Kane released Hue Min Son whose resulting shot took a massive deflection off James Justin legs into the net.
Leicester continued to have more the ball, but Spurs were always dangerous on the counter, and they doubled their lead through Harry Kane.
The England international fired home a left-footed striker in the 37th minute following a perfect pass from Lucas Moura.
Kane then killed any hopes of a comeback as he scored his second three minutes later courtesy of an excellent curling effort.
With a commanding lead, Spurs sat back following the restart, which allowed Leicester to dominate possession. But despite having a lot of the ball, Brendan Rodgers men could not find a breakthrough.
Leicester stay in fourth place, level on points with Manchester United with the same goal difference, but have played a game more than the Red Devils.
