Days after it was confirmed that Paul Onuachu tested positive for coronavirus, one of his international teammates has also contracted the virus
Super Eagles star Samuel Kalu has tested positive for COVID-19 virus. The 22-year-old was tested on his return to France from Nigeria, and it was confirmed that he tested positive.
The news comes after Paul Onuachu also tested positive for the virus on his return to Belgium- although the lanky striker has recovered fully.
Kalu is now in quarantine for 14 days after which he’ll be tested again for the virus. The former Gent was supposed to link up with the rest of his teammates for Bordeaux’s pre-season training which started on Monday.
He should’ve returned earlier, but due to the travel restrictions in Nigeria, it was impossible to travel. Kalu had a below-par season for Bordeaux, scoring just one goal and recording one assist in 20 league games.
The Nigeria international should be able to join his teammates on July 27 provided he tests negative.
