After Victor Osimhen and Moses Simon, both picked up their respective club’s player of the season awards, one of their international teammates is also up for the award at his club
Nigeria star Chidozie Awaziem is among the five players nominated for Leganes player of the season. It’s been a disappointing La Liga season for Los Pepineros as they sit in 19th place five points from safety with just three games to go.
But despite their struggles, Awaziem excellent performances have not gone unnoticed and has now been nominated for the club’s player of the season.
It’s a remarkable feat for the 23-year-old who only joined Leganes on loan from Porto at the beginning of the season.
The former Caykur Rizespor has made 28 appearances in all competitions for Javier Aguirre’s side and has been rock solid in almost every game.
According to Sofascore, Awaziem has an average rating of 6.71, which is one of the highest in Leganes side. The Nigeria international will go up against Oscar, Recio, Rodrigues and Cuellar for the award.
The winner will be determined by the number of retweets and likes each player gets on the popular social media site, Twitter.
